A dream from a few days ago or so...

This is another dream featuring my grandfather.

I was getting some kind of chocolate-filled pastry out of the kitchen closet. It was long, thin, and flakey, and I was eating it as I went into the living room and sat down in a chair.

Steve sat down in the chair next to mine. He had one filled with white creme of some sort. He grinned at me and we had a very short conversation.

"I got one of these, too, but they're your mom's so unlike you I asked first."

"They aren't Mom's."

"Yes, they are."

"Well, I didn't know that."

"Yeah, you did."

"No, I didn't."

"You knew, and you know it."

"The hell I did."

That's when I looked over at Steve again. But, it wasn't Steve, it was Grandpa and he gave me this look that was all at once serious, surprised, and angry. A look that asked with indignant silence if I was crazy. In the dream and in reality I'd never spoken to him that way in my life...

Bizarre Nightmare

I don't remember all of it, so it's probably going to be spotty reading. At least, I think it was all the same dream or they all tied together or something. I'm going to focus on what I remember most and clearest, and those are the parts pertaining to my grandpa.

He was in the hospital and mom and Steve and I were visiting. Sort of like when he really had been in the hospital, but different. If that makes sense. I don't recognize the hospital now that I look back on it. And his room was close to the door to the overnight patients' rooms. And, I think he was even fully dressed. Even though he was in the bed and it was night time. I just knew it was night somehow, although I don't remember looking out any windows.

He could speak fine (I somehow just knew this, too) but he was sleeping (I think) when we were there.
Then the scene cuts and I'm in a motel room or something and also asleep. But, I'm dreaming.
Grandpa, in the dream-within-a-dream, is up and gone somewhere. I watch as if it's a movie playing out to me. He is looking for something. Some kind of hunk of wall made of wood that is supposed to be special or sacred to some people. I think they were Native Americans.

For some reason I know that my grandpa wanted to destroy or deface this object. I don't have the slightest idea why. He does eventually find it, though. It has markings on it, but I can't remember at all what they looked like. I just remember there was something there and I thought of them as markings. But, I don't know what they meant anymore than I remember what they looked like. But, I don't think I understood them, anyway, in the dream. So, maybe it isn't important.

Grandpa took a hatchet to the wall and started to hack at it. He defaced a good portion of it, almost all of it actually, before anyone heard and came to check out what was going on.

I guess he locked the door when he went into that room, because the man trying desperately to get inside was having serious difficulties doing so. Maybe he didn't have the key.

Anyway, Grandpa kept hacking away. Soon, I guess that man either called for help or people heard his racket and came to help on their own. But, someone had a key and got the door open.

The guy who was trying to get in before the others showed up was the first one inside and he immediately grabbed Grandpa and yanked him away from the hunk of now-defaced wall. They struggled, but not for too long.

For some reason, this is the point where it becomes apparent to me in the dream-within-a-dream that Grandpa is wearing regular clothes. Navy blue, plain T-shirt and blue jeans. The man struggling with him had on some kind of cotton pajamas and a T-shirt. I think the shirt was solid white, but the PJ pants (while otherwise white) had some kind of black, small and thin print design. Can't remember what it was, though.

And then...he got Grandpa in a choke hold and snapped his neck like it was nothing.

That's when I woke up from the dream-within-a-dream. I knew I wouldn't be happy until I checked on Grandpa for my own peace of mind. So, for some reason I told no one and just got up and went to check on my own.

At this point it becomes apparent that I am not really in a motel, because I only have to leave my room and walk down a short, lighted hallway and I am at the nurse's station.

I am shocked to find that the dream-within-a-dream seems to have been prophetic. Grandpa is already there and something is terribly wrong with his neck. Yet, he's standing and talking to the nurses as if nothing is really too wrong. He's wearing the same clothes as he was in the dream-within-a-dream.

He looks at me and smiles, but I know something is not right by the way he turns his head. He tells me he is okay and it's no big deal, before I can even ask him what's going on, and tells me to go on back to bed. Then he heads to his room and that's the last I see of him for the rest of the dream.

The nurse tells me to go to bed, too, and walks me down the hallway, which no seems dimmer (but not dark) than before. On the way, I ask her what happened to Grandpa. She stops with me outside my open door and tells me that Grandpa has had his neck broken by someone, but that he would be alright.

Then, I wake up. For real.

Haha, weird dreams that I have. I wonder what my mind is DOING while I'm sleeping!! Lol!

Semi-Nightmare

I had a very strange dream and a majority of it was not at all good.

I was outside in the backyard with Hunni and walking around. For some reason grandpa's apartment hadn't been built, yet, and the old fence from when I was a really little kid was there. It was really flimsy.

Some other kid was there, a boy with orange hair, but I don't know who he was or why he was there.

I was standing in an area that today, in reality, is covered by grandpa's apartment. Hunni was sniffing around close by. I don't really know what that boy was doing, but he was off somewhere a little further away.

There was an area at the corner of where I was standing, at the corner of the house under the window (which is now no longer there due to the building of grandpa's apartment) that was mostly hidden by a rock that had been there so long it was now part of the ground itself. Grass was around it and semi-high. The rest of the yard's grass was cut short.

I looked down there and saw the grass rustle inside the little hollow area protected by the rock. Thinking it was a frog, I was about to investigate, when I heard the tell-tale hiss of a snake. My eyes went wide, I'd never seen a "wild" snake before and I had never heard of one being in our backyard before.

I quickly walked away. I don't know why, but instead of picking Hunni up I just called to her and expected her to follow. She did not. Instead, she went to investigate and got bitten! I ran over and picked her up and took her away from the area.

The boy in the yard went over and picked up the snake. It was huge, long and thick and dark, hunter green. It had markings, but I don't remember what they were. They were black, whatever they were. I don't know if he got bitten, but that was the last I saw of him or the snake.

I went inside to tell my mother and grandfather what had happened. I can't drive and an immediate trip to the vet was necessary. But, for some reason neither of them wanted to do it, despite the fact that Hunni's chest was bleeding and her right forepaw was swollen so much that the toes were bent due to the amount of swelling. Something about the cost. But, when Hunni started to act twitchy and made me worry she was going to have a seizure of some sort, they finally decided to.

Mom was suddenly just gone, nowhere to be seen. Grandpa drove me in his red car, the last one he'd owned before he died. He was grumbling and being mean about having to drive us and having to go to the vet (at least I thought it was mean) the whole way. I remember being surprised at his attitude.

When we got to the vet, I think it was in the old McDonald's building (which is now a China Garden Buffet in reality). I brought Hunni inside and she seemed less like she wanted to seize, so while I was still scared and worried for her, I was a little relieved.

The weighed her and for some reason she was 10 pounds! She is only supposed to weigh 5. The vet called her weight grotesque and I was very worried he might not let me have her back. I promised that she would go on a diet and after a bit we went to a large room with a lot of other (young) people and there was a huge television about the size of one wall. I don't know what I was supposed to watch in there or why (by the way, when I say we I mean Hunni and I. Grandpa did not enter the vet's building with us).

I guess time soon skipped in the dream, because suddenly I was outside and being driven home holding a much-obviously better Hunni. The car was the same red one, but I think the driver was now a younger version of my grandpa, although he was in a much better mood. He was also wearing my grandfather's black Stetson. I was not surprised by any of this in the dream, however.

I told him about the experiences in the vet's and of being afraid they would take Hunni away from me due to her weight and how it was supposedly like me gaining "100-some pounds," although I don't know where I came up with that.

When we got home I told Mom that Hunni was okay and let her see her. And, I told her of my worry of the vet not allowing me to keep her due to her weight, and the analogy I'd used with the younger version of grandpa (although he was nowhere to be seen at the moment, I don't think he came into the house with me).
And, then, I woke up. Really, really odd. o.O;; I don't know where this dream came from. I swear, my mind does strange things when it is unoccupied. I never used to even remember my dreams way back when, but now I remember them pretty often.

Fandom-Based Dreams

The first dream I had was a little odd in the fact that I have no idea where it came from.

Dream 1:

I was a student at some sort of school and was heading to the girls bathroom to pee. There were apparently rumors about this bathroom. A particular stall involved odd things and a possible haunting. I don't remember, at this point, what those specific odd things were.

There was actually a male student in the bathroom (yes, and nobody thought this was weird, not even me apparently) conducting some sort of experiment about that stall. By the time I got there, he'd already finished his experiment and was bragging about having proved something.

I don't know who the boy was, but I think I knew him at least by sight -- not by name -- in the dream. He was tall and had short, brown hair and I thought he was obnoxious, irritating, arrogant and making too many assumptions about what his experiment "proved."

I tried to explain to him that he was jumping the gun on some of these assumptions, and why, but he was just too arrogant and dense to get it. He walked off sure of himself, and left me standing there disgusted with him.

Dream 2:

This dream was influenced by the old Beetlejuice cartoon. I was Lydia and Beetlejuice was with me. I think we were in the Neitherworld, because there was a creepy guy who had funny powers causing problems. BJ and I were either looking into this or were at the wrong place at the wrong time.

An animal was this guy's current target. Not knowing what else to do, I jumped out to try to save it (I think we were hiding behind bushes or something), but was just caught along with it. His powers froze us both (me and the animal) in a sort of suspended animation. I was aware of everything, but could do absolutely nothing.

BJ was horrified and stunned, not to mention worried and confused. He followed to where I and the animal were brought. I think at one point I was turned into a mouse! I don't know how this occurred or why or when.

BJ was searching for me in the building (I think it was like a huge residential house), so I guess he got lost at some point.

For some reason it wasn't safe for him to just use his powers and save me in a flash of awesomeness. He hid close by once he found where I was. When the time was right and the creepy guy wasn't around, BJ turned me back into me (Lydia) and we escaped.

Unfortunately, we were unable to save the animals in the building that were still trapped there and at that guy's mercy. I was upset, disappointed, and worried about this, but BJ was just glad I was safe and would not hear of either of us going back there to try to save the animals. Even he deemed that man too dangerous and us damn lucky to have escaped with no damage.

Hm...now that I think about it that first dream had elements of Harry Potter in it. And I think, in a way, you could probably find a way to tie in Bleach to the Beetlejuice dream.

Odd Dream

Well, most people who know me probably know that from time to time I have very strange or random dreams. Tonight I had another one of those. I'm thinking it might have been brought on by a storm that was going on outside, but who knows?

For as long as I can remember, I've always been terrified of tornadoes. Once in a while, I've been known to have dreams about them. Generally, they're recurring dreams. This time, I had a new dream.

I was at home with just my grandpa, and there was a storm going on. I looked outside and noticed that across the street something weird was going on, it took me just a second but I realized that what I was seeing was a pretty wide tornado outside close to one of the other houses. I told my grandfather, and he immediately got us into the back bedroom (which I find odd now, since generally we would've gone to the hallway). I wanted to get into the closet, it's a big one anyway. So there would be enough room for both of us. But, he said no, the closet would collapse if we got in there, so we got down on the floor by the bed, and I hung onto him because I was afraid.

I remember the feeling of the wind and the strange sensation when it slammed into the house, I almost thought we'd been lifted up, I had a long moment of...I guess vertigo without the visual effects. I held on tighter, because I was afraid that he would be swept up and if that was going to happen, I wanted to go along. I didn't want to be the one to know that I had hold of someone I loved and couldn't hang on and keep myself grounded at the same time.

But, thankfully, the worry was unnecessary. He didn't get swept up and neither did I. Most of the house turned out to be fine. I don't remember if the closet had collapsed or not. We were both fine. My mother came home shortly after and was worried. But, she was glad we were fine. I was paranoid the rest of the night in the dream, worrying that a tornado would come again in the night and I wouldn't be able to see it, that no one would, and this time we'd all die.

And, then I woke up. :p

Weird, eh?
